Trading Books Worth Reading

Trading in the Zone by Mark Douglas has totally changed my personal trading success.  I have spent many years studying technical analysis and have tried just about every indicator or trading methodology......seeking the Holy Grail.  After reading this book, I realized that the real answer was in my head.....and.....was in probabilities.  And when I switched my trading over to a probabilities based trading system......my trading took off.  In addition, the fear and greed disappeared, and I no longer have trouble pulling the trigger.  So I highly recommend this book.  In my opinion.....it should be read over and over again by  every trader. Trading With the Odds - is a book that has definitely impacted me in the way that I think and trade.  Cynthia Kase is a energies trader and trades some large sized positions and most of her clients are in the energies markets as well.....and I would just imagine that they trade very large sized positions as well.  Her book is not the easiest to understand unless you are accustomed to dealing with a lot of math and statistical analysis.....but with out a doubt, you realize very quickly that you are reading a book written by a pro.  Some of her book is dedicated to how her indicators work.....and I have had them before and no doubt will get them back some day.  But she also outlines HOW we should trade in order to mitigate risk and maximize profits.  And in chapter 7 she walks through trades that will just change your life if your desire is to learn how to trade like a pro.  I highly recommend this book but it is not for the faint of heart.  However if you want to get serious about trading and aspire to be a pro......you need to add it to your library.  And you will like me.....read it over and over again.  (Click on the cover to see more information about this book and to see the reviews)

Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets - is the Bible of technical analysis.  It is the text book of technical analysis.  I read the first version of it when I was beginning my quest to become a full time trader and when the second version came out....I bought that one too.  If you are serious about learning how to trade.....there is no question.....you have to own this book.  That's all I can say about it.  It is the real deal when it comes to technical analysis. (Click on the cover to see more information about this book and to see the reviews)

Technical Analysis Explained - is also considered the Bible of technical analysis.....but consider it a different version of it.  It is required reading if you wanted to become certified as a Chartered Market Technician by the Market Technician's Association and of course I have it as well.  But if you want to go deep and learn technical analysis from the pro's......here you go.  A definite have to have for the library. (Click on the cover to see more information about this book and to see the reviews)

Market Wizards - is the first book by the author that was successful in getting behind closed doors and interviewing some of the most famous traders.  He asks the questions that you wished you could ask these traders.  We obviously want to be successful.....but what does it really take to get that success?  Well after I read this book....and I have to confess.....I have read it a few times, I was left with plenty of little nuggets of wisdom.  Any way you slice it, this is a book that you need to have if you aspire for some of the success that these top traders have attained.  And the only way that you can know that....is to here it for yourself...from them.  (Click on the cover to see more information about this book and to see the reviews)

The New Market Wizards - is the second book that the author wrote and is the same as the first book as far as the purpose is concerned.  But now he interviews more famous and successful traders.  Something that you need to remember when reading books like this is that these traders may say something very simple.  And yet we can miss the importance of some of their advice.  Years after I read these two books, I am just now realizing some of the importance of their advice.  And I mean just a simple statement from them.....can be like receiving a jewel.  So add it to your library and I am sure that you will want to read it several times.  (Click on the cover to see more information about this book and to see the reviews)

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator - is an absolute must read for every trader.  This is a portrayal of Jesse Livermore's life and if you have never heard of him...well he was about the most successful trader that ever lived.  He had a very special talent which almost all of us do not have and of course he didn't have a computer.  Technical Analysis was just starting to become an embryo at the time and he thought that it was hocus pocus. But he goes into the behind the scenes of how the market works....when the heavy hitters get involved.  If you are involved in trading....it is critical for you to understand what the big boys do in the market.  We may swim in the same pond as them......but their  habits are not very clear sometimes.  Anyway after I read this book.....my whole view of the market has changed....and now I see things that he spoke of.  So it's a classic....and perhaps it needs to be on your book shelf as well.  (Click on the cover to see more information about this book and to see the reviews)

Pit Bull: Lessons from A Wall Street Day Trader - is a book that I haven't read yet.....but I have read about Marty Schwartz.  In fact I held him up as one of my trading hero's, because it took him almost 10 years before his trading light went on.  But since then, he has become known as the most accurate trader alive.  And when it comes to taking a hit via a stop loss.....he is cold and totally emotionless about getting hit.  So for those of us who have been trading for a long time and yet we still strive for the big time.....this trade is the inspiration that you require.  I am going to buy it no matter what and I can update you then......but knowing about this guy......I wouldn't wait for me LOL.  (Click on the cover to see more information about this book and to see the reviews)
